The Melbourne Cup is regarded as the greatest horse racing in the world. Its a race that stop the nations. For the last ten years, each Melbourne Cup Carnival has attracted more than 350,000 crowd. And also millions of other that watch it through broadcasting.
Me as a non horse racing fan, can as well feel the heat around. With the daily news and radio broadcast influences, i took a bet today. Rely on the news and analysis from the internet, Dunaden the French-breed horse is one of by favourite. Another one being Tullamore(No.22 as tip off from my bro-in-law)
Anyway, Dunaden as the second favorite before the race do not disappoint me. She win by a slim margin against Red Cadeux, and pocket me some groceries money for the week. Cheers!!
Its has been long 24 years since New Zealand won the last world cup back to 1987. Yesterday 23/10/2011, lead by the captain Richie McCaw, The All Blacks finally lift the Webb Ellis Cup in our home soil at Eden Park, Auckland.
Its a memorable moment for all the kiwis that has been stay behind of the team. Right from the beginning of the tournament, the All Blacks were lifted by the nationwide support.
There has been so much doom and gloom in the country following the Christchurch earthquake, Pike River Mine Disaster and also the recent Rena Oil Spill at Tauranga. The All Blacks has put a much needed joy back to everyone in the country. Lets soak up the glory!!
Friday the 4th is a big day in Nelson city, where Crusaders play Waratahs at Trafalgar Park for Super 15 Rugby clash. Crusaders is our favorite team. As soon as we know the game will be relocate to Nelson because of the Christchurch Earthquake, we get out tickets in no time.
We pay $15 each for GA as i can walk around to take photos, rather then seat at one place
To ensure that we get a good spot(nearer to the field), we arrive at about 6pm. Its a nice evening and the stadium just started to fill up.
As we walking around to look for our desire place, i try to snap a few shot of the crowd.... looks like its all over crusaders today. i hardly see any waratahs supporter. Mind you crusaders are red and black.
waratahs warming up
pretty little girl...look at her eye
Before the game start, four crusaders round the field.
Here they come
Both team lining up on the field for a minute silence to honour 29 men who died in the Pike River Mine disaster. As such, crusader will be wearing special edition jersey in red and white(west coast colour). After the match, the jersey will be sign by every particular player and put up on trademe. Sales will be given to the 29 victims trust.
I'm not commenting about the match, let the picture say it.
a poor shooting skill, but it is a "TRY"
It was a good half where we saw some great rugby from both team. I turn around to the crowd.

Full time 33-18. Its a more than needed victory for crusaders. Escpecially for the people in Christchurch. What a great day for us too. I'm so looking forward for the game next week now.....haha

Park Ji-Sung score a stoppage time superb to hand a 2-1 victory to Man Utd. This is also a perfect 24th anniversary present for Sir Alex Ferguson as Man Utd manager.
Thanks to Footytube for the highlight of the game.
Owen Hargreaves make a surprise inclusion in the starting line up, but only lasted for five minutes. He limped off the field(looks like a hamstring injury), have a bit of talk with team physio, then down the tunnel. He might have another spells at the sidelines.
In May 2007, Man Utd spent $17million pound to buy him from Bayern Munich. In season 2007/08, he had his outstanding performance, finished with an outstanding penalty in CL Final shoot-out victory against Chelsea. He had been injured since September 08. Up to date, he only make 39 appearances for Man Utd. What a crystal man...
Lets back to the game, yeah..it isn't a great game to watch, not the sort of performance as champion contender. The young guns still need some time to glue it up. At the end of the day, three points is what we after....yes
Oh yeah, the red poppy on Sir Alex left chest..do u see it. Its poppy day next week(11th November), also call Remembrance Day. It is a special day set aside to remember all those men and women who were killed during the two World Wars and other conflicts.
Remembrance Sunday is held on the second Sunday in November, which is usually the Sunday nearest to 11 November. Special services are held at war memorials and churches all over Britain.
Past five days has been the most shocking day for me as a Man United and Wayne Rooney die hard fan.
How can he make such a terrible call, not to extend his contract. A bit of history(everything is over now) bout this saga :
October 19, Sir Alex Ferguson received a phone call from CEO David Gill claiming that Rooney is not going to extend his contract.
In an post match interview with Jose Mourinho after R.Madrid vs AC Milan match, he said "I believe he is going to stay. But if at the end of the day Manchester United decide that he is to leave, then give me a call''
October 20, Rooney issued a statement.
"I met with David Gill last week and he did not give me any of the assurances I was seeking about the future squad. I then told him that I would not be signing a new contract. Despite recent difficulties, I know I will always owe Sir Alex Ferguson a huge debt. For Manchester United's sake I wish he could go on forever because he's a one off and a genius''
After Champion League win over Bursaspor, Ferguson call for the team to consider and try to put this things to an end.
Ian Holloway, Blackpool boss urge Rooney not to repeat the people at the very top of the game's fault. Man U has helped him growth his career massively from a young boy(transfer form Everton when he was 18) into where he is today.
Robbie Fowler, former Liverpool striker jokes about Rooney to join him in Australia. Shut up Robbie, not funny at all.
October 22, Rooney agreed another deal till 2015
"I am delighted to sign another deal at United. In the last couple of days, I have talked to the manager and the owners and they have convinced me this is where I belong. I said on Wednesday the manager is a genius and it is his belief and support that have convinced me to stay''
After this saga, i think Rooney's role in club become more important as to guide those young player and establish himself into one of United's great player. Most importantly, a few trophies as he wishes.
My gut feeling also tells me Man United will bring in a star player on January transfer window re-open.
In my 10years as a football fans, this is the first time i saw such a joke by the goalkeeper.
Not many peolple aware of this as it happen during a clash between Moroccan top division team Maghreb Fez vs FAR Raba. Goalkeeper Khalid Askriturns to celebrate totally unaware that the ball is coolly spinning itself into the back on the net.
It is only when he turns his head that he realises he has quite possibly made the stupidest mistake in football EVER! haha
